PicoSure is the gold standard for laser tattoo removal. It is the world’s first picosecond laser and the only advanced tattoo removal laser with Pressure Wave technology. PicoSure delivers short bursts of energy that break down the larger and deeper pigment ink particles without harming the surrounding tissue. PicoSure is FDA approved for laser tattoo removal.
PicoSure Laser Tattoo Removal works great on:
· Multicolored tattoos, including blues and greens
· Hard to remove black ink
· Stubborn, previously treated tattoos
The pulses deliver short bursts of energy that break down the larger and deeper pigment ink particles. These pulses are absorbed into the target areas of the skin causing the conversion.
The high energy levels allow pigment removal with fewer treatments compared to other traditional lasers. The ultrashort pulses and wavelengths shatter the tiny particles of ink while minimizing the amount of heat delivered to your skin. The Pressure Wave technology delivers effective treatment with less pain and healing time. The tattoo fades as the ink is broken up into small particles and absorbed by the lymphatic system and eliminated naturally.
The area treated is cleansed. A numbing cream is then applied to the area 20 minutes prior to treatment. The treatment is fast and quick.
Patients compare the sensation similar to that of a rubber band snapping on the skin. We offer several methods to maximize treatment comfort and to manage discomfort.
Each individual tattoo is different. A reasonable estimate for tattoo removal can range between 5-12 sessions. There are instances where a tattoo can disappear in 3 sessions or less, but that is not the norm.

There's discomfort after treatment. The most common effects after treatment include mild swelling and some redness across the treated area. Other common side effects of laser tattoo removal include:
· Bruising
· Tingling sensations (similar to sunburn)
· Blisters, which may dry into scabs
· Itching
· Mild skin discoloration
If you experience these effects, it is important to remember that these are common. Post treatment blisters are normal along with scabbing and peeling. These effects indicate that your body is healing and responding to treatment.
If the treatment area is swollen you can use a cold compress to alleviate any discomfort. The cold compress can be applied to the area for 15-20 minutes on and off until the discomfort dissipates. You may also take Tylenol.
For the first 3 days after treatment, keep the treated area bandaged with sterile gauze and protected with a thin layer of antibiotic or healing ointment such as Aquaphor. Gently clean the area using a mild soap. Pat dry gently with a clean gauze pad.
Avoid soaking in bathtubs, jacuzzi, or swimming pools until the area is healed. Do not shave and refrain from picking any scabs that may have formed. This is very important to prevent scarring. Once the area is healed, use a SPF 30 sunscreen daily. If the area looks infected or you have an extreme reaction, immediately contact a medical professional.
